    BIG GAME

    We are blessed with some of the finest hunting opportunities, available anywhere. The Upper Kennebec Valley ranges from old grown-up farms & rolling hills to mountains above 4000 feet. This diverse cover, and sheer size of area allows plenty of room for all species to thrive. Virtually unlimited access to all hunting areas, very few hunters per square mile. Good game populations, add up to success for many sportsmen.

     

    WHITETAIL DEER

    Deer densities are improving each year, for the past decade. This is Big Buck Country, where the possibility for a 200 lbs + exist day. There are many sporting camps available in the area, which provide Guided & Non-Guided Trophy Whitetail Hunts. The season starts the last Saturday of October and runs until Saturday following Thanksgiving.

     

    BLACK BEAR
     
    Maine has an estimated 35,000 Black Bear, many of which is of Trophy size. The Upper Kennebec Valley boast for excellent Bear densities with excellent success rates. There are two popular methods for hunting these elusive animals. Hunting over Bait begins the last Monday in August and runs for 4 weeks. Bait sites must be registered with landowners. Hunting with Hounds is the other method, which many sportsmen use. The season begins 2 weeks after the start of Bait hunting and ends the last Friday of October. There are many Guides and Outfitters in the area to assist you in pursuit of this magnificent Trophy.

     


    MOOSE
     
    The Upper Kennebec Valley also known as "Moose Alley" has tremendous Moose population. The Moose hunt is by permit only, with applications for permit dead line around the first of April. For those that don't receive a permit, you might try hunting Moose with a camera. Moose Photography abounds throughout this region. It's not unusual to see 10 or more Moose on any given day.

     

     

    SMALL GAME

    GROUSE
    Hundreds of miles of logging roads provide access to an excellent population of ruffed grouse. These beautiful and delicious birds known locally as Partridge, are everywhere. Many hunters who use dogs report 25 plus flushes a day. Woodcock are also available at this time. these flying birds offer sport shooting deluxe. Grouse season opens October 1.

    SNOWSHOE HARE
    Local forestry practices in the past have given the Upper Kennebec Valley world class Hare Hunting. It has been said the sound of Beagles running Hare will set you free. This is great fun for young hunters as well as more experienced sportsmen. the season runs from Oct. 1 until March 31.

    COYOTE
    These wild predators are considered by many as the most difficult animals to outwit in the forest of Maine. There is no closed season on Coyotes. they are hunted over Bait and with Calls.

     

    SAFETY ISSUES

    New hunters must pass a hunter safety course and experienced hunters must present a previous year's license to get a new license.

    Two pieces of high visibility hunter orange clothing, one of them a hat, the other a vest, jacket or coat covering the torso must be worn at all times while hunting.
